Thoughts from a counselor on the NACAC listserv: Looking for such a specific major at a school offers some potential challenges for a student. As with a student looking for hotel management or sports management; they can attend a school with that major or look for a school that could prepare them differently.
So students interested in sports broadcasting or journalism has a few options. They can choose a school that offers that specific major and then compete for every opportunity and be judged with others in that narrow focused niche major (small fish in big pond).
OR
Attend a school that will offer opportunities to develop those skills via internships and employment while developing first rate writing and journalistic skills (big fish in small pond).
Here are some schools that have been recommended as offering options for student interested in these fields; don't forget to read the disclaimer and do your own double-checking!
